All eYE MARTY needs is an accompanying DVD to bring some of his greatest works back in the public eye, and it would be a perfect memoir. The autobiography is perhaps better appreciated if read in conjunction with Robert Ross's fine biography of the performer.

The Goon Show is the Year Zero that caused the comedy boom of the 60s, but Feldman is the spark that got it properly going on TV. His unpublished biography was discovered in his former Los Angeles home by nightclub owner Mark Flanagan, who inherited the property from Feldman’s widow, Lauretta. Feldman attempts to tell the tale of his hungry years as a trumpet-playing vagabond until his rise to international celebrity, predicated on his googly eyes (the result of suspect thyroid medication), wiry stature, and an irrepressible bent for the bizarre.
