About this deal

You can leave whole yuzu fruits on the kitchen counter at room temperature, but if you don't plan on using them right away, refrigeration helps them last longer. While they stay fresh in the frig for a few weeks, yuzu may lose their powerful aroma after a few days. Why are frozen fruit purees ideal for brewing? Fresh fruits need to be pasteurised as they might bring unwanted natural yeasts and bacteria. But in the case of fruit purees, you don't have to worry about it. Pop the purees into your fermenting beer at the beginning of the brewing process and enjoy a sweet, fruity beer. The only real downside with yuzu is that it can be quite difficult to buy the fresh fruit in the United States. That’s because we actually have a ban on the import of citrus fruit and citrus trees. This helps contain disease and invasive species, which is a very good thing! But unfortunately it makes it almost impossible to find yuzu fruit in most regions. Yuzu is grown in California and growers can ship it, but it can get expensive.

For Savory Dishes: try variations of yuzu-marinated fish, seafood, or grilled meat. You can also include it in salad dressings like my Yuzu Vinaigrette with Ginger and Honey,or as a sweet and sour glaze for roasted vegetables or potatoes. Street Smart Nutrition Tip: Avoid yuzu fruit and yuzu products if you have an allergy to citric acid. Other potential risks could be damage to tooth enamel or heartburn due to how acidic it is. However, yuzu is perfectly safe to enjoy for the majority of people and poses little risk. Yuzu in Nutrition Research Despite yuzu's distinct flavor, it's actually quite versatile in the kitchen. "I still remember the first time I tried yuzu," reminisces chef Gabriel Kreuther, owner of a self-titled restaurant in New York City. "A friend had just returned from Japan with it. The smell alone was so different from what I knew before. It was a true discovery, an inspiration." Here are just a few ways to introduce yuzu into your cooking. Today, Monin continues to build on their history of innovation and bring unique, on-trend flavorings to market. We asked Senior Vice President of Marketing Stasha Johnston what bartenders should know about mixing with Monin’s Yuzu Purée.

Ingredients

Heat the vegetable oil to 160°C, fry the uncooked wild rice until it puffs up and the colour changes to light brown. Carefully remove the wild rice from the oil and drain on kitchen paper. Season with salt and pepper.

Take the last avocado, remove the stones and separate the avocado from its skin. Cut the flesh in wedges. Other chefs call on yuzu to play a more central role in their dishes by pairing it with various proteins. "Typically I like to pair it with a fatty dish, like pork belly or wagyu," offers Kim, "but it also complements fresh seafood—especially sashimi and sushi—brilliantly, by adding a touch of fresh citrus tang and aroma on your nose." Add Vigor to Veggies Monin has created a toolbox of amazing flavors that help our customers build the inventive drinks they dream up. Our purées don’t require thawing, refrigeration, or muddling, which makes for easy prep and storage. For flavors that are traditionally difficult to extract, like yuzu or banana, our purée line offers bartenders an easy solution to achieving a bold, premium taste full of real fruit and balanced sweetness. Our fruit purees are made with the best fruits, both traditional and exotic, which are carefully selected when they are at the peak of their season. They are then pureed and frozen, preserving their delicious flavour and nutrients for year-round enjoyment.

Method: Pour the blueberry puree in the glass and fill with crushed ice. In a shaker, combine cocoa butter-washed tequila, Velvet Falernum, lime juice, and three dashes of yuzu juice and shake. Strain over crushed ice and garnish with micro shiso if available. Yuzu plays such a pivotal role in Japanese cuisine and now, in recent times, it has become an integral ingredient in so many other cuisines and cultures," explains Min Kim, executive chef at Wynn Las Vegas' Mizumi. "It has such a significant value in our culture, not only as a cooking ingredient, but as something that is so fundamental in our daily lives." Brew the most flavourful beers with our fruit purees. The use of fruit in beer was previously limited to a few specific styles like Belgian lambic. In recent years, however, it has become increasingly popular as a result of innovative thinking among the ever-growing community of homebrewers and craft brewers. Since yuzu’s flavor is similar to other citrus fruits, it works well with some of the same pairings. Whenever I’m challenged by what to pair with something, I turn to The Flavor Bible. This book is one of my favorite resources to better understand flavor pairings and spark some creativity in my kitchen. If you don’t already have a copy, I recommend adding it to your shelf! They even have a vegetarian versionwith expanded recommendations for plant-based cooking. For those who want to venture out and try something new, our exotic fruit purees are sure to satisfy your cravings. From the tangy and tropical taste of guava to the sweet and juicy flavour of papaya, our exotic fruit purees are a great way to add a unique twist to your recipes. HOW TO USE:A little goes a long way. Often just a splash in a dressing, sauce, marinade, or beverage is enough. Can be added during or after cooking, or added to baked desserts like custards, tarts, for yuzu curd (similar to lemon curd). Yuzu Puree With so many similarities between yuzu fruit and lemons, it’s no surprise they are very similar when it comes to nutrition. Yuzu is a good source of vitamin C, a water soluble vitamin and antioxidant. Vitamin C can help protect your cells from the damage caused by free radicals, which contribute to oxidative stress and can lead to conditions linked to chronic inflammation. Vitamin C is also needed to produce and use collagen, an important protein for bone health, skin health, blood vessels, and connective tissues. Finally, having vitamin C in a meal can improve the absorption of non-heme iron from plant-based iron sources, support a healthy immune system, and maintain better oral health for teeth and gums.
