About this deal

In terms of longevity, I think all of these are just about average - I get about 5 hours until they're sitting as skin scents. Silage on the original Halfeti and Halfeti Cedar is very good (you will make an impression), but I find Halfeti Leather a touch more muted. For the uninitiated, Penhaligon's are a British company founded in the 1860s and the image they present of themselves is strongly aligned with the well to do. This isn't a lie either - Winston Churchill was apparently an avid wearer of their 'Blenheim Bouquet', and James Bond associated himself with them in the Ian Fleming novels. It'd be fair to say, therefore, that Penhaligon's as a brand can be described as traditional and critics (...me!) might call some of their older fragrances 'dated'. The Penhaligon’s Halfeti Hair Perfume is softer and a little less punchy than the actual fragrance which is perfect for me because it means I get to enjoy the sensual and exotic beauty of Halefti without it overwhelming me. I find Empressa to be more peachy and slightly less sweet and muskier with more warmth than Coco Mademoiselle. As well as more addictive (you know when you just want to keep sniffing a perfume) and sensual. Versus Coco Mademoiselle which I find more youthful. However, because it’s on the sweeter side I find it more of a feminine women’s perfume than a unisex scent. I actually really like Legacy of Petra and it’s on my Penhaligon’s fragrances favorites list for Winter perfumes.

Along with what each fragrance smells like to me. Including Empressa, Halfeti and Luna, my personal hits and misses, whether they’re worth the price and my very favorite. Bearing in mind perfumes wear differently on everyone due to how they react with your skin and body chemistry. Penhaligon’s Trade Routes scent library I actually found the online fragrance profiling more thorough and accurate than in store. As in store the lady only asked what smells I usually like and actually misheard me and was giving me all the scents I said I didn’t like! Whereas their online fragrance profiling takes you through a series of fun personality questions which takes about 3 minutes and leaves you with 3 suggestions. Empressa is supposed to smell of bergamot (head note), peach (heart note) and patchouli (base). Along with vanilla and blood orange to be bright, warm, lustrous, and unforgettable! I told them I don’t like vanilla and like florals so I’m not sure how we ended up with this one but here we go: Halfeti is one of Penhaligon’s most popular and famous scents so what does it actually smell like? I normally prefer more feminine perfumes but am actually really loving this scent. It’s quite heavy on amber and musky incense notes but I find it well balanced between the florals and warmth and quite a feminine, sensual scent. Halfeti Leather opens with top notes of Cardamom, Plum, Green Notes, Lavender, Bergamot and Citruses. The mid is comprised of Cumin, Rose, Nutmeg, Violet, Cinnamon and Jasmine; while the base notes are Leather, Incense, Agarwood (Oud), Cedar and Patchouli. How Does Halfeti Leather Smell?I don't think I was alone in that thought though and, when the company was bought by Spanish outfit Puig in 2015, it underwent a marketing rebrand. The brief was, no doubt, to keep the things that people liked about the brand (high end perfumes and a sense of British tradition), but ditch the stuffiness. Top hats and tails were out and the 'Trade Routes' and 'Portraits' series were in, followed swiftly by a lot of money from consumers, it seems. I also love the bottle the Duchess Rose Portraits Collection perfume comes in so it’s definitely on my Penhaligon favorites list.

I wouldn’t necessarily choose this as a date night scent or work scent, as it may come across as a little animalic or offensive to others. This fragrance can be polarising so it is important to consider the context with which you choose to wear it. Longevity and Projection Halfeti Cedar is unconcerned with trying to keep up with the original, however! As the saffron fades, the rum note begins to combine with the cedar, dark fruits and immortelle (I won't even bother trying to work out what the 'mineral notes' are adding) and...holy hell. What we have here is that rarest of perfume scents, the Christmas pudding. If you love booze and dried fruits, this is a perfume you need to try, because it's really nailing the accord for me. It's the booziest darn thing I've smelt. Halfeti Leather is the flanker to the original Halfeti release by Penhaligon’s. It opens with a fresh sweetness and dried fruit accord. This is what drew to me to the fragrance in the first place – I really enjoy sweet accords in my fragrances. It’s not overwhelming, as long as you’re not too heavy with it and it’s strength and complexity makes me feel more confident, sexy and powerful. Halfeti is towards the top of my favorites list for a Winter, going out/evening perfume.

Once you’ve decided on your perfume(s) there’s the option online and in person to pay to personalize it with a leather sleeve which comes in 5-8 colors depending on the perfume and charm and/or have it engraved. It's rum and dried fruits to open, and then settles with some woods and spicy on the dry down. All beautifully enmeshed in a spinning kaleidoscopic eruption of mineral accords, vanilla notes and tonka beans. For those outdoor walks in Winter. For those outdoor Christmas events, for those late night impulsive BBQ's because why not. HALFETI LEATHER Carrément Belle: 555, Alfred Kafé, Alõ, Enkor, ïōdé, Ippi Patchouli, Ippi Patchouli Clair, Label Rose, Musc, Musc Originel, So, Vanille If you were to ask me blind if Halfeti Leather was a flanker when comparing these openings, I wouldn't really have known, because the plum and leather combination is a big change from the original. The giveaways are subtle but there, however. I don't dislike its opening, but I do definitely think it's an acquired taste - it's a lot darker and leans much more towards the masculine side of things than its stablemates (which are reasonably unisex) The hills of Halfeti remains unexplored... until now. Dried fruits and spice cascade through cedar's lofty canopy into a river of rum, minerals and vanilla. New love takes root in this ambery fragrance.Vague enough? Well sorry, but this one casts quite a net. And the main takeaway is that it's a scent that transports you. The oud, the amber, it's bold and daring. Tailored for the night time wear, in the cooler months. This to me is seasonal, and now is the time. They recommend not trying too many of their perfumes as it can get overwhelming and confusing. I think I tried 5 in total before ending up with Empressa. More on that below. The original Halfetiby Penhaligon'sis an Amber Woody fragrance for women and men. Halfetiwas launched in 2015.
