About this deal

These training courses focus on developing knowledge and understanding of the regulations as well as their practical application in electrical installation and wiring works. The timing of the exam means that you will have on average 2 minutes per question so a good overall knowledge of the 18th Edition regs plus a thorough understanding of the book is a must.

BS 7671 is also used as a national standard by Mauritius, St Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Cyprus, and several other countries, which base their wiring regulations on BS 7671. As a general rule candidates should have knowledge of electrical installation and electrical science. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. They guide electricians and persons working in the industry, protect consumers, and help prevent accidents, fires, and other hazards associated with electrical installations. In the 18th Edition training, there are a variety of topics that are covered that ensure that both budding and experienced electricians are up to date with the current British standards of wiring regulations.Subsequent editions have been published as technology and thinking on safe procedures have developed over time. We advise that candidates who have completed the 17th Edition (without the 3rd Amendment) should complete the 3 day course rather than the 1 day update as there are substantial changes to cover. While Amendment 2 has increased the use of these products, it isn’t to the extent that we have seen in the drafts. Notifiable works are generally larger-scale or more complex jobs, where both the risk and level of knowledge needed are higher. The 18th Edition classroom course is usually offered in two formats: (a) four or five consecutive days spent in a classroom, or (b) a series of evening sessions scheduled over a month or two.

Many people assume that the new course will contain lots of extra content, however in reality it will still remain very similar to the old 17th Edition courses with some changes. In the context of electrical wiring regulations, a permit to work is simply a formal confirmation that electrical wiring has been isolated and made fully safe. This is a new appendix that provides recommendations for the design and erection of electrical installations. In this article, written by John Saysell, Head of MCP Technical Training, he explains how businesses can safely introduce basic maintenance skills into the operator workforce, starting with leaving their brains at the factory gate…!

Now, any outbuilding on a TN-S or TT earthing system can be bonded in accordance with the incoming cable protective conductor related to that building. The wiring regulations are a British Standard (BS7671:2018) written by the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology). The IET Wiring Regulations is an extremely detailed book (referred to by some as the ‘big blue book’). We will work together through the book from cover to cover, looking at the areas and regulations you must work through to maximise your chances of passing the final 2382-22 examination. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting, these courses offer invaluable insights and hands-on experience. There is no deadline for completion but some of our courses have a test at the end to check that learners have understood the material.
