About this deal

I look up to you as a beautiful human being, a badass warrior and the incredibly talented author you are. I loved the positive affirmations that are presented and how the subject of mental health and how it affects a person is presented. also i know james was trying to help her to reconnect with her family but especially her mom i felt weird abt bc the way she reacted to her depression was nasty, why would you want to reconnect with that? It had me crying (which is not unusual with her books), but it also felt full of hope in a much more honest, raw, and realistic way than it has ever felt before.

I didn’t really like the MMC, till half through he was alright but after that scene I couldn’t look at him the same way as before. Their cooking lessons, reading Romance books together, saving puppies, giving each other what they needed. Determined to heal from her wounds and make the most out of her second chance, she does her best to prepare herself for the next chapter in her life. Depression is different for everyone, and I understand that the author had gone through something similar.Like all of Kristen Granata’s work it tackles really difficult topics with so much grace and accuracy. The mental health side of it is wonderful and gives an insight of how they see their problems and I liked that. I did enjoy the way James goes from being a bit of a grump to warming up to Phoenix in all the right ways.

This books illustrates that perfectly in a way that made me see what life in the future could be like. It felt like a book written by someone who used their characters to say what they always wanted to tell someone or wanted to be told by someone. When she's released from a psychiatric treatment center, she moves into her family's old shore house in New Jersey, to figure out how to start over. It made it feel never ending and from one problem to the next there wasn't enough time always to really see the effects. James, our male lead, lived with a horrible trauma and when learning about phoenix, it brought up emotions he never dealt with. It’s also clear that she’s the first woman in his life who has made him feel anything close to feelings in years.

While her relationship with the patriarch of the Russo family is very minimal, it’s enough to give you an idea of how much she misses her own father. I was surprised by how transparent this book was about mental health, you don’t see that a lot in books today. When she's not teaching or writing, Kristen is reading, tripping over something, indulging in her messy love affair with popcorn, and annoying h Kristen Granata is a bestselling romance author known for writing inspirational, emotional stories with realistic characters who struggle through the darkest parts of life and come out stronger on the other side. BUT WHAT'S NOT EVER FINE IS YOU TREATING THE OTHER PERSON LIKE COMPLETE SHIT AND SAYING A BUNCH OF REALLY HURTFUL THINGS JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE DEPRESSION.And in true Kristen writing, she gave us characters dealing with real life struggles and mental health issues that everyone can relate to. I loved the mental health dedications and all of it but the romance was unnecessary and I didn’t personally enjoy it. James has a younger brother Leo, who Pheonix has a bond with instantly as they both struggle with some of the same issues.
